Love the charming yellow door - upon entering, it doesn't even feel like you're in Calgary anymore. Already picked out my next meal - lobster bisque with foie gras cream, beef tartare, duck cassoulet etc. etc. Wooden shutters provide an effective design contrast to the bright yellows strewn throughout the restaurant. Heirloom carrot and Fairwind Farms goats cheese salad w/ golden
raisin, orange cardamom dressing, toasted almond foam Poached sablefish w/ salt spring island mussels, clams, tomato shellfish veloute Valrhona chocolate fondant w/ cocoa nib ice cream

Chic Decor at Yellow Door Bistro

Have been wanting to try Yellow Door Bistro and was able to do so for the first time during the Big Taste.

The signature yellow door leads you into a space that is a sharp departure from the typical restaurant decor in Calgary. The wooden shutters provide an effective design contrast to the bright yellow and neutral grey featured throughout. All in all, I love the romantic styling, furniture choices and light fixtures.

The food and cocktails are great by the way. Although not pictured, my favorite dessert thus far is the île flottante.

Next time I must reserve a table with one of the oversized domed armchairs. How very Alice in Wonderland-esque.
