Love the throwback images and clean font & logo. Did I mention I am obsessed with this typeography? Bistro vs. grab & go - perfect for downtown lunch crowd. Sipped a cappuccino during the wait to be seated. Cucina serves Phil & Sebastian coffee and espresso. Love the care and thought taken in plating the food - no, really!! Complimentary sample of the incredibly creamy and delicious wild BC mushroom soup. Sunworks Farm chicken liver parfait with sour cherry-balsamic cipollini jam, ciabatta crostini Spragg Farms pork & rabbit meatball pappardelle - fresh pasta, red pepper, tomato, espelette, fried basil Market risotto - short rib version was simply amazing! Highly recommend!

Fantastic Meal at Cucina Market Bistro

One meal and this is already one of my favourite spots in Calgary! Located at Eighth Avenue Place, Cucina Market Bistro is literally half Italian bistro, half fresh market cafe.

During the wait to be seated, we were offered a complimentary sample of the wild BC mushroom soup, which was incredibly creamy and delicious. After ordering, I took a look at the lunch menu and grab & go offerings and found the prices to be very reasonable. Lucky downtown workers.

I can say that I absolutely loved the food. Highly recommend the chicken liver parfait - beautiful presentation and the sour cherry jam paired perfectly. I also wouldn’t hesitate in ordering the market risotto again - the short rib version was very flavourful and well done.

All in all, I couldn’t help but notice the attention to detail that was taken throughout - everything from the care taken in plating the food, the matching detailing on the spoons and the throwback images and clean typography.

Sad that I was too full to order dessert, but I will definitely be back! Looking forward to trying the reverse affogato (house made espresso gelato, warm vanilla cream) and the entire brunch menu (porchetta benedict and ricotta fritters anyone?).

Scratch that, make it the entire menu - yes, you will not be disappointed!
