Mercato West Market
Mercato West Market offers traditional Italian fare, freshly packed and ready to take home. This new location in West Springs also provides yet another coffee bar option in West Calgary (yay!).
An in-house pastry chef makes homemade desserts, including their famous tiramisu. I opted for a fresh lemon meringue tart - one of the better lemon desserts I’ve tried in Calgary! The tart had a buttery crust and the filling had an intense lemon flavour, all topped with a light meringue.
A highlight of the location is the fresh pasta produced each day, made from organic eggs and Venetian durum flour. Hoping the lasagna primavera, pork & veal meatballs and potato & rosemary ciabatta I brought home are just as good as the tart!
Update: Enjoyed the pork & veal meatballs and potato & rosemary ciabatta. Delicious! Very filling and satisfying. The market is a good option for buying a take home meal. Oh and of course there is the restaurant too.
