With the new E-Mart having opened on 17th Ave SW, there’s a new place to pick up Korean groceries and snacks. I always love buying Asian snacks, especially with the creative packaging and unique flavours.
Labels such as “Spicy Corn Snack Chicken Pop” also add to the fun. :p

Fluctuating spring time weather = time for layering. An animal print adds the perfect pop of colour and pattern!
The pistachio macaron cake from Ohh La La Patisserie is absolutely delicious and is highly recommended for your next birthday cake purchase. The delicate macaron layers sandwich a creamy pistachio ganache, light whipped cream and fresh fruit.
Thanks Stephanie for bringing this yummy treat to our last get together! Hope to bring a black sesame macaron cake to share for our next outing (once Sebastian perfects the recipe of course!).

From May 3-10, 16 restaurants are competing for the title of Calgary’s best burger - all while supporting local causes. In addition to treating yourself to a unique burger creation, $1 of each participating burger for YYC Burger Week also goes to charity.
As per the YYC Burger Week website, downtownfood’s Double Down consists of the following ingredients:
“Local Brant Lake Wagyu Double Down” - Ground Wagyu patty, house cured and smoked Wagyu pastrami, DTF bacon, truffle cheddar, soft poached crispy egg, Broxburn tomatoes and bib lettuce, garlic aioli and picked wild leeks. Served with double blanched fries, spiced ketchup and a strawberry shake!
The soft poached crispy egg paired with the Wagyu patty, Wagyu pastrami and downtownfood signature bacon is a genius combination. My favourite burger out of the ones I tried during YYC Burger Week.
Side note: The Farmer’s Martini is so refreshing with its inclusion of cucumber puree. Give it a try!

NOtaBLE’s YYC Burger Week offering consisted of Alberta beef, roasted onion mayo, oka cheese, truffle mushroom duxelle, artisan bacon and a house made sesame bun. The best part was the mushroom duxelle in the burger!
